The Upside to Aging is excited to announce the upcoming release of Guide Book Caregiving Both Ways!
Amazon.com, release: August 15, 2019
Caregiving Both Ways is my first book, and its contents were inspired to further the mission of the Upside to Aging. It features 10 insightful Chapters to guide you the family caregiver through the caregiving process. Each Chapter contains exercises, how to’s, and activity ideas that are designed to cultivate meaningful caregiving experiences for family caregivers and their loved ones living with Dementia.
Too often family caregivers are left to “figure it out” as they take on the role of caregiver to their loved ones. Throughout each Chapter, I acknowledge the hard work and sacrifice caregivers make when providing for their loved one. My experience working in Activities in a nursing home taught me that relationships don’t have to suffer just because someone has dementia, that in fact, they can flourish!
The focus of medical and physical care demands takes away valuable opportunities for loved ones to get to know their loved one during this new phase of their lives. Caregiving Both Ways walks you through how to balance both taking care of your loved one and yourself while providing care to a loved one with dementia.
Prepare for each stage of care: Caregiving Both Ways is divided into two parts. First, learn how to care for your loved one with dementia and prioritize your new role as caregiver. Next, discover how to build a strong support system with help from professional caregivers and how to prepare for end-of-life care.
I am so excited to share this work with you! I’ve had so much fun writing this book and truly believe that this guide will walk you through some of the more difficult aspects of care so that you can best take care of your loved one and yourself!
