About

Hello and welcome! My name is Molly, and I am so glad you found my blog.  I have worked in the aging services for over 15 years, and I just love what I do, so I thought I’d share with all of you!

Hello, and welcome to the Upside to Aging!

My name is Molly Wisniewski (LeGrand) and I have cared for older adults living with dementia for over fifteen years. I am a firm believer that everyone deserves person-centered care in both the quality of their care and the quality of their life.

I was fortunate to begin my career in the aging services with a mentor dedicated to the teaching of resident’s rights and the promotion of quality of life. These concepts have become my foundation as I grow in the field, especially in the face of adversity which is all too common in this area.  Over the past fifteen years, I have supplemented formal education in the field of geriatrics through in-services, conferences, and my internship with the National Consumer Voice. In May 2016, I graduated from the Erickson School, UMBC  where I received my M.A. in the Management of Aging Services.

I started the Upside to Aging because, over the years, I have watched the struggles and frustrations that occur while caring for our loved ones with dementia and Alzheimer’s but as an activity professional I’ve been blessed with an alternative and more positive side to aging that I would like to share with all of you!

I look forward to connecting with all of you, and I hope you find the information you will need to have happy and healthy relationships with your loved ones.
